Two Reaver titans arrived early this week, and they have been duly assembled, ready for a weekend of painting!

I really recommend buying these chaps in pairs, as it gives you the maximum flexibility in weapons. Unlike the Warlord, you do get some choice (Gatling Blaster, Laser Blaster, Power Fist) with the Reaver, and they can be mounted on either arm. But you only get one of each weapon, so if you buy two Reavers, you can dual-mount them – just as I have done with one of mine.

I went with the choice of more ornate panels with the Reaver on the left, making him an easily identifiable maniple leader (until a Warlord takes over that role, or we get pretty resin upgrades for a Reaver from Forge World). He also received a Power Fist, not because I have some great desire to get into close combat, but because it really is the iconic look for a Reaver.

The maniple leader has not been named yet, but his companion will be the Scutum Reductor – the Shield Stripper! The two kits allowed him to be equipped with two Gatling Blasters and they, topped up by the Apocalypse Launcher, should be enough to make even a Warlord worried!

Building-wise, the Reaver is much quicker than the Warlord, even though the legs are still quite involved. There were some rumours flying around that said the cables to the legs and weapons made the Reaver less poseable but, as you can see on the maniple leader, you can get a wide range of motion in the legs at least, as the cables do not attach anywhere specific on the body, but instead disappear inside a wide gap that gives plenty of mounting options.

These two are both destined for the Legio Mortis, though Legio Xestobiax will be getting its own reinforcements soon enough!
